Jain bodies launch stir for strict action in Karnataka monk’s murder case

Protests were held across Karnataka to condemn the killing of Jain monk Aacharya Kaamakumar Nandi. Two people have been arrested and confessed to the crime. Jain organizations have presented four demands to the government, including police protection during foot pilgrimages and the establishment of a Jain Corporation for community welfare. The hunger strike by Jain monks ended after receiving assurances from the government. Home Minister G Parameshwar visited Jain ashrams and assured the community of their safety. The opposition BJP has criticized the government's handling of the case. The motive behind the murder is believed to be financial.

BBMP to begin stray dogs’ survey today

According to officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, the survey will be done by the animal husbandry department of the corporation in Bengaluru. The previous survey in 2019 had identified close to 300,000 street dogs in the city.

83 Karnataka pilgrims stranded on Amarnath yatra route safe: Minister

According to officials at the Karnataka state disaster management authority (KSDMA), as per preliminary information, over 1,000 people are stranded and taking shelter at the Panchtarni Military Base Camp in Amarnath. Of these, around 83 are from Karnataka, including 23 from Gadag district.
