Routine work affected in Ggm police stations due to waterlogging

Updated on Jul 11, 2023 12:26 AM IST

Routine work was affected at several police stations in Gurugram due to waterlogging caused by heavy rain. Computers and electrical equipment were switched off to prevent damage, and heavy-duty diesel pump sets were used to drain out water. Some police stations were unable to register FIRs. The water receded by Sunday night, but mud and sludge remained. Despite the challenges, work resumed once the water receded. A video of police personnel working in knee-deep water circulated on social media. The MCG and district administration were addressing the waterlogging issues.

Rainwater floods several condos across Gurugram

Residents in Gurugram faced a harrowing experience on Sunday as heavy rain caused severe waterlogging, flooding roads, common areas, and basements. Residents' welfare associations were forced to hire pumps to drain flooded areas. The rainfall was the highest since 1982. Waterlogging has been a recurring problem in the city, despite authorities' claims to address it. Construction work at Vatika Chowk blocked a stormwater drain, exacerbating the flooding. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority deployed teams to address the issue. The CEO directed officials to improve drain infrastructure and connectivity for faster rainwater discharge.
