This is Djokovic's 14th Wimbledon quarter-final and standing against him is Andrey Rublev, who is making his first quarterfinal apperance in Wimbledon. Wimbledon 2023 Live Updates: Elina Svitolina protest against Russia
Elina Svitolina's fourth round clash against Belarusian Victoria Azarenka had sparked some tensions, not between the players but the crowd.
The crowd had intensely booed Azarenka after both the players didn't shake hands following the match. However, it was Svitolina's decision not to shake hands with Azarenka in protest of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

If we look at the other quarterfinal clash in women's category, we have world number one Iga Swiatek take on Elina Svitolina.
This is Swiatek's first appearance in the quarterfinal at the premier grass court event. However, to make into the final eight Swiatek survived a scare against Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in the fourth round, where she saved two match points.

Novak Djokovic's opponent Andrey Rublev, on the other hand, is making his first appearance in Wimbledon quarterfinal, completing the full set of quarter-final appearances at the Slams.
If we look at his record against the Serb, Rublev has only managed to overcome Djokovic once in four meetings.
The two had met at the Australian Open quarterfinal this year, where Rublev could only manage seven games in a straight-sets defeat.
